Bud to Bloom Play Therapy Presents: Using Play Therapy to Address the Tasks of Grief

This training will focus on equipping social work professionals with the skills needed to support children experiencing grief through play therapy. Participants will learn the tasks of uncomplicated grief, including accepting the loss, processing emotions, adjusting to life without the deceased, and maintaining a healthy connection with the lost loved one. The training will introduce key assessment tools, such as the Grief Inventory for Children and the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, to identify children who may benefit from play therapy interventions. Additionally, attendees will explore play therapy strategies to facilitate emotional expression and support the healing process in grieving children.

This course is intended for social workers beginning to learn about play-based therapy.

3 CE credits offered for social workers.

To earn CE credit, social workers must log-on to the live webinar at the start of the course with their cameras on. The social worker must attend the entire webinar, including keeping their cameras on for the duration of the webinar. Upon completion of the webinar, social workers must complete an online evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 7 business days of course completion.

Meet the instructor:

Jasmine Berger, LCSW, RPT

Jasmine Berger is a registered play therapist and licensed clinical social worker. She has over 7 years of experience working with children and their families as a social worker, including 4 years working in as a school-based therapist. Additionally, Jasmine is an adjunct lecturer at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis.

Course Interaction and System Requirements:

This live webinar will occur via Zoom and is fully interactive. Participants will be asked to complete polling questions and participate in small group discussions with other participants and the instructor. A Zoom link to log-in to the webinar will be sent 24 hours before the course begins.

System requirements:

  • Operating Systems: Windows 10 or higher, macOS X with macOS X (10.11) or later.

  • Internet Browser: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, or Edge - all within 2 versions of the current release.

  • Broadband Internet connection: Cable, High-speed DSL & any other medium that is Internet accessible.

At Bud to Bloom Play Therapy, our goal is to provide an effective learning experience for all participants. If you experience any difficulties related to registration, course content, materials, facilities, technological resources, or any other course-related issues, you are encouraged to bring them to our attention as soon as possible. We aim to address grievances through open dialogue to reach fair and balanced outcomes for all parties involved.

Grievance Submission
Grievances should be submitted in writing via email to info@budtobloomplaytherapy.com with “Grievance” in the subject line. A confirmation email will be sent within 24 hours acknowledging receipt of your grievance.

Grievance Resolution Process
Upon receipt of a grievance, the following steps will be taken:

  1. Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge your grievance within 5 business days.

  2. Review: The Social Work Consultant, in collaboration with other staff as needed, will review the details of the grievance.

  3. Consultation: Discussions may be held with relevant parties (e.g., course instructors, facility management) to address the concern.

  4. Outcome: A resolution will be determined, and you will be informed of the decision within 10 business days. Possible resolutions include:

    • No action if the grievance is unsubstantiated.

    • Partial refund or course credit if the grievance is valid.

    • Content or procedural changes for future courses, if necessary.

Refund Requests
The following refund policy applies to all training events:

  • Non-refundable fee: $25 of your registration fee is non-refundable.

  • 60+ days before training: You may request a refund minus the $25 non-refundable fee.

  • Less than 4  weeks before training: You will receive a 50% credit toward another training within the next 18 months.

  • Less than 2 weeks before training: No refunds will be provided.

  • No-show: If you do not attend the training, you are not eligible for a refund.

  • Training cancellation: If Bud to Bloom cancels the training, you will receive a full refund, including the non-refundable fee.

  • Natural disasters: In the event of a natural disaster that cancels a training, Bud to Bloom will refund all but the $25 registration fee.

Non-Receipt of Certificates
Certificates of completion will be emailed to participants within 7-14 days after the training. If you do not receive your certificate, please email info@budtobloomplaytherapy.com with “Certificate” in the subject line. Include your registration name, training title, and trainer’s name. If necessary, replacement certificates are available for $25, and will be processed within 48 hours of the request.
